Flat Iron Crimped Curls

August 14, 2019 by amyreeves24@gmail.com Leave a Comment

Everyone know hows to use a flat iron to smooth your hair. You may even already know how to use your flat iron to curl your hair. But did you know you could use this handy little tool to crimp your hair? It’s super simple and quick to style your hair with flat iron crimped curls!

Am I showing my age by admitting that I desperately wanted a crimping iron when I was younger? Crimped hair was all of the rage, and I desperately wanted one of those zig zagged crimpers.

Crimping is back, but with a grown up and more natural looking curl. And you can easily obtain the loose and casual look of a bigger crimp curl pattern with your flat iron!

Tools Needed:

• Texture Spray (here is my favorite one, and here’s a good and cheap one)

• Flat Iron. In this video I’m using this Babyliss one. I also love my Paul Mitchell Flat Iron. I haven’t used this Conair one, but it has great reviews and is really cheap.

How To: Flat Iron Crimped Curls

  1. Brush hair to remove any tangles. Spray with texture spray to add grit and hold.
  2. Take 1-2 inch sections, and insert flat iron at the root. Clamp iron shut and rotate iron 180 degrees under. Hold tension in hair strand.
  3. Slide iron down 1 inch, and rotate flat iron 180 degrees up; bending hair in the opposite direction. Hold tension in hair strand at the bottom, while allowing the hair above to be slack.
  4. Continue rotating flat iron over and under as you move down the hair strand, finishing the last inch of hair smooth.
