Brown Sugar Apple Pork Chops

April 25, 2019 by amyreeves24@gmail.com 3 Comments

These Brown Sugar Apple Pork chops are deceptively simple. A few common ingredients combine to make one uncommonly delicious dinner!

When I learned to cook, I scoured the internet for the most highly reviewed recipes I could find. I stumbled upon one called “Caramel Apple Pork Chops” with hundreds of 5 star reviews. Caramel Apples?? With Pork Chops?? It sounded like such a strange combination. But I decided to trust the public and give it a whirl. And we LOVED IT. After almost 10 years of making it, I have modified the recipe quite heavily for ease of preparation and personal preferences, but the original flavor profile is the same.

Sweet and spiced (not spicy) apples combined with tender and juicy pork chops, cooked in under 30 minutes, and in one dish. And my picky little 4 year old loves this meal. It’s such a winner!

Prep Time 5 minutes mins
Cook Time 25 minutes mins
Total Time 30 minutes mins
Servings: 4
Ingredients Method

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless skinless pork chops
  • 1 tsp vegetable oil
  • Seasoned salt
  • Pepper
  • 1/4 c brown sugar
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 2-3 green apples sliced
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg

Method

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Brush the chops lightly with oil and season with seasoned salt and pepper on each side. Place in the hot pan and cook about 8-10 minutes per side, or until cooked through (meat thermometer reads 150. Pork will continue to cook while it rests). Transfer to a plate and cover in foil to keep warm.
  2. In the same skillet, combine butter, brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. When butter is melted the sugar is dissolved, add the apples. Cover and cook until the apples are tender.
  3. Add the pork chops, and juices, back into the skillet and stir everything together. Serve the pork chops with apples and sauce from the skillet.

I love this recipe! I have never eaten or made pork chops this way before. After the first time of making them they became part of my regular dinner rotation.
